Positive affirmation

What we believe about ourselves and life become true for us”

If we expect and believe that life is a struggle for us and that people treat us badly then that is what our experience will be. Likewise if we love ourselves and believe that we deserve all good in our lives and have a right to loving healthy relationships, that is what we will experience.

In a commercial world where every ad is designed to make you think you lack something, you are not good enough or you don't have enough, it is important to remind yourself of who you are, or even more importantly who you are capable of becoming. While standing in front of the mirror and affirming to yourself the person you will become seems strait out of the SNL skit "Daily Affirmation With Stuart Smalley" , it really is a great way to get back into a motivated mindset.

It's not about telling yourself a lie. It's about starting with the end in mind. If you are not even sure what you want out of life, how are you ever going to get it?

You don't have to stand in front of a mirror or wear a cable knit sweater vest when you do this, but envision the person you want to be in 1 year. Who is that person? What do they look like? What has that person accomplished in the past year? Now work back from that vision to find the steps you need to take to get there.

I want to here from YOU. When you looked at yourself a year away? what did you look like? What had you accomplished? I am excited to hear your vision of yourself.

  1. I love thinking about me in the future. First of all,I am so SEXY hot mmm hmm. I am a successful business owner. I travel with my family across the country just for fun to visit the people we meet through blogging. How fun would that be. Oh and we would speak at conferences to share our success with weight loss and helping others.

  3. Great post Mike and so important for all of us think about no matter where we are on the "get healthy" train. I year from now I would like to be living in a house not a condo or at least closer to that goal, preparing to have baby #2 and be more on track with that pregnancy weight wise then I was with Abby. Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. When I see myself a year from now I see a fit and strong lady. I have lost the weight and I'm getting fit but I'm still out of shape and could use some work on my muscles. I need to build some muscle mass back from my weight loss. I've been needing to do this for a while but I keep putting my exercise on hold. Hopefully, this is the year when I can pull it together mentally and get myself in better shape.

  6. I see me at my current goal weight. I hope that I will have a regular exercise plan and will be able to wear all the clothes I have in my closet(and the current clothes will have been given away).

  7. Mike thanks for posting this. This was my very thought last year about myself. I looked at my wedding photos, and was absolutly disapointed in myself. Not discusted, but disapointed in teh way that i allowed myself to live thus far. I have since lost 70 pounds, and am continuing my weight loss journey to reach 105 pounds. Thanks so much for helping to inspire me and giving me more motivation. I see myself next year not being constantly self aware. Also feeling comfortable in my skin. Thnaks,

  10. I see someone making assorted delayed dreams come true because she/I have the energy and health and positive self-direction to do it. I've been mired in hopelessness, depression, and binge eating. But that's THE PAST. The future is full of great possibilities, and the ME doing these things is slim, fit, aging with greater health and well-being. I see someone finally blooming after being stuck in a dark cave for 20 years of illness and overeating.

I see me the way I should have been all along, time not wasted. I see something cool.
