I read Mike's last post and got so emotional, I am so proud of him. He is working so hard to achieve his goal. His strides for success go much deeper than a smaller number on the scale, and it affects me more than you can imagine. People can see that there is more to this guy than meets the eye. That is what I love about Mike.

I am near my goal. I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think the real fight is maintaining the magic number once you get there. I'll need plenty of advice from those of you who have experience in this area. I am 5 pounds away from reaching under 200 pounds. 199?!!! I can't remember the last time I read that on the scale.

March 2010
Before and Afters motivate me more than anything.
When Mike and I were dating he got me hooked on the motivational stories from Body for Life.  It's kind of weird going back through pictures trying to find the fattest pictures of yourself. Sadly I don't have to go far to find them, they're actually really easy to find and I have many to choose from. Thinking back to last year when both of these were taken and how I perceived myself then.I had lost sight of who I was because I was content with where I was, but didn't realize how much of myself I had lost.

I didn't know what I was missing. I didn't care what I was missing.

Mike bought me the hat in the pic last night and a little house plant to thank me for my support, and to reward me for my own success. Let's HIT these 5 pounds out of the park!!! Keep fighting friends. It is so worth it.

PS. Someday I want to dance a hip hop number by Tabitha and Napolean from So You Think You Can Dance. I am secretly in love with hip hop music and may or may not choreograph my own routines in my kitchen while washing dishes. "Nappytab" always wear cool hats too ;)
Peace out yo!

  1. I was right where you were (just can't remember when right now! Probably about 8 months ago) but I had finally reached below 200! But right when that happened, I felt like I had finished what I wanted to accomplish and started going back the other direction. I know you can do it, but don't let that goal deter your LARGER goal. I know everyone is different and you might not even struggle one bit. But I just wanted to share with you that literally my drive went away after I saw that 198. And I just wish I wouldn't have put such a huge emphasis on that weight. I need to put an emphasis on my starting weight and keep moving on!! But I will be reading to congratulate you when you get there!!!! I hope to be back there shortly!!! Ohh and I also love Tabitha and Napolean!!

  2. You look phenomenal Karlie! I'll bet you feel that way too. You and Mike are doing amazing. I have so much respect for the progress that both of you have made!

  3. I know that even when we are at a family party I only get a quick hello to you because our kids are so busy. But I wanted you to know that you are beautiful. I know we all have our struggles in life and I am so thankful you are so forthright with your struggle. You both give everyone hope that we can do better every day, no matter what we are struggling with. Thank you for being such amazing people and so open with life. Oh, and it was really fun to see your sweet little girl on your blog and laugh because she looks exactly like you when we were growing up. She is beautiful. Love you guys. I love watching your progress.

  4. You are getting close! I am new reader but 100% behind you all the way! Keep up the good work!

    The hat is soo cute!

  5. I love before & after photos. They are so inspiring!

  6. Congrats on being so close to your goal! Think of all the hard work and struggles you had to overcomoe to get to your "magic number" It will help you maintain your weight!

  7. You look wonderful. Just curious how tall are you and what is your goal weight?

  8. Thank you for the comment I am 5'5" And 175 is my goal weight. Under 200 is where I never thought I'd be so it is a HUGE accomplishment, but 175 is my ultimate goal.
